Neurodivergence and Boarding School Pre-Recorded Workshop

In this workshop, I explore the often confusing overlap between neurodivergence and Boarding School Syndrome. I begin by looking at how boarding school may be experienced by a neurodivergent child, before gently unpacking the differences between ADHD, Autism, Complex PTSD and the impact of boarding school trauma.

Many former boarders find themselves wondering, “Am I neurodivergent?” In this video, I help you make sense of your patterns and behaviours, so you can begin to understand what may be linked to ADHD or autism, what may be a response to early separation and trauma, and where and if there may be an overlap of both.

What People Are Saying About Working With Amelia:

My wife has suggested for years that I may have autism because I struggle to express my feelings. This video has been so helpful in helping me to understand that some of my behaviours may have come about as a result of going to boarding school and I am not necessarily autistic.

This was fascinating. I haven’t heard anyone make the link so directly with Complex PTSD and it all makes so much sense now. I have Complex PTSD and my partner has ADHD and we have similar characteristics but also lots of differences. Amelia explains it really clearly and it is great to hear her own personal experience as well.

I’ve spent a long time wondering whether I might have ADHD or if my patterns were shaped by boarding school. This video helped me see how both could be true, and gave me a much clearer understanding of myself. It was reassuring and I might go down the path to get a diagnosis now.

For years I’ve felt confused about why I am the way I am. This video helped me understand how my boarding school experience may have shaped me, alongside possible neurodivergent traits. It’s a relief to know others are similar.
